The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), is one of the most prestigious universities in China and the only university jointly endowed by both the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Ministry of Education of China (MOE). This program aims at recruiting world-class scholars under the age of 55 as full-time Professors at USTC. Applicants should have worked either as professors or in equivalent positions in world-renowned universities or research institutions.



This is one type of “1000 Talents Program” especially for young scholars under the age of 40. Applicants should have obtained a doctoral degree in a world-renowned overseas university, and have no less than three years of overseas research experience. Special offers are granted to those who have insufficient post-doctoral research experience, however, have made remarkable research achievements in their doctoral studies or in other areas.



This program is designed for world-class scholars of non-Chinese ethnicity. The candidate should have worked as full professor or in an equivalent position at a world-renowned university or research institution, under the age of 65, highly visible in the form of recent publications on top journals, field-significant awards and prizes, scarce lab skills, etc.


Applicants should have no more than 5 years of post-doctoral research experience, and should have produced outstanding research products with exceptional insight and creativity and become visible globally in the related research areas.



The applicant should be under 45 years old if in a field of natural sciences, and under 50 in a field of humanities and social sciences.



Regular untenured two-year positions 




This program aims at recruiting world-class scholars under the age of 60 as part-time Professors at USTC. Applicants should have worked either as professors or in equivalent positions in world-renowned universities or research institutions, who will spend their sabbatical time undertaking research at USTC.



This position and title is designed for distinguished scholars that are highly influential in their research fields, and are interested in long-term collaborations with USTC through short term visits. They are expected to build up international connections for USTC with prestigious overseas research institutions, and expand the global vision and visibility of USTC.
