Upcoming Academic Deadlines
Do you have an Incomplete from Fall 2016? May 5 is the last day for a faculty member to submit a grade to change an I grade or DFR grade in a non-thesis course from Fall 2016 to prevent an F by rule on your academic record. The F may affect Academic Standing which is calculated at the end of the semester.
May 4 is the deadline to drop a Spring 2017 semester course with a W recorded. To drop a course, you will need to complete a Late Registration / Late Course Change form with the approval of your academic program. A W will be recorded on your academic record for the course.
May 4 is the deadline to withdraw from ALL semester courses. To withdraw from all Spring 2017 semester courses, you will need to complete a Withdrawal / Cancellation form and obtain a signature from your academic program. If you are an international student, you will need to get a signature from International Student Scholar Services. W’s will be recorded on your academic record.
May 4 is the deadline to add a Spring 2017 semester course. You will need to complete a Late Registration / Late Course Change form and obtain the approval of the course instructor and your academic program. If the course is from a department other than your academic program, you will also need to obtain the approval of the enrolling department.
Late Registration / Late Course Change forms and Withdrawal/Cancellation forms need to be delivered to the Graduate College, 204 Coble Hall, before 5 p.m. on Reading Day, Thursday, May 4. View our calendar for additional academic deadlines.
Summer 2017 Health Coverage for Graduate Students
To ensure that you receive Summer 2017 health coverage and benefits, please make sure you read the health coverage information online and take action as appropriate.
The Enrollment / Change period for Summer 2017 is May 12, 2017 through June 2, 2017. During this time, students can go to the Student Health Insurance website and waive the Student Health Insurance fee. Can also go to their MyAccount where they can add dependents online. Students who wish to reinstate back into the plan, must visit the Student Health Insurance Office located in McKinley Health Center, lower level Room 29 and fill out the appropriate paperwork, in person. Workshop: Applying for a Fulbright Grant

Are you planning to apply for a Fulbright Grant for overseas research but don’t know where to start? Do you have a great question you’d like to explore in a foreign country, but need the tools to design a viable research project? Join the Graduate College for a crash course in research design and methods especially for Fulbright applicants. We will explain what a Fulbright selection committee looks for in a proposal, and then help you start laying the foundation of a solid research design. Topics will include: crafting a research question that you can answer with international fieldwork, lab work, or archival work; establishing the question’s significance; determining the appropriate methodology required; understanding Fulbright’s evaluation criteria; and other topics critical to preparing a competitive application. Dr. Ken Vickery, Director of External Fellowships, will cover how and where to search for funding and will offer a nuts and bolts overview of the art of proposal writing.

United States Department of Agriculture Dissertation and Postdoctoral Fellowships
Deadline: June 28
USDA fellowships provide U.S. citizens and permanent residents with support for fundamental and applied research, education, and extension projects in the food and agricultural sciences. The proposed research should address key problems of local, regional, national, and global importance in sustaining conventional, organic, and urban agricultural systems. The fellowships offer up to two years of support, including tuition support for graduate students. Auditions for INNER VOICES Social Issues Theatre
Tuesday, May 2, 6 p.m. or Wednesday, May 3, 5 p.m., Armory, room 160
Audition for the Fall 2017 INNER VOICES Social Issues Theatre. This troupe addresses timely and often difficult social and health issues through performances followed by post-performance dialogues. Additionally, the program provides an opportunity for students to be actively engaged in the process of creating and performing social issues theatre through four courses that students may enroll in for academic credit. They offer touring shows each semester that range from health concerns such as substance abuse, sexual health, and body image to social issues such as hate crimes, gender identity, and socioeconomic status.
